It has now been a little over a year that I have been on Nexplanon. For the first 6 months of that experience, please checkout my 6 month checkin blog post. Link here – My Experience on Nexplanon – 6 Months. Today I’m going to talk about my experience now that it has been a full year.
October-March (1-6 months):
A more in depth reading of this on my blog post – My Experience on Nexplanon – 6 Months. To summarize it here, I had a shift in appetite, mood swings, breakouts, and constant vaginal bleeding.
April-September (7-12 months):
The last six months are being tied together as each month was very similar. Thankfully, those months were better. The biggest concern I had months 1-6 was my mental health. Now, I have found myself in a place where I am mentally healthier. I have not had many mood swings and have come to have a healthy appetite.
My one frustration the last six months was constantly bleeding. There were a few days to maybe a full week that I did not bleed. However, a majority of days I was either spotting or bleeding. Which truthfully became very annoying. Wearing a tampon everyday is no fun.
As the months have gone on, I have taken time to reflect and pray. I most likely will get off of this form of birth control within the next few months. Simply because I do not like the thought of staying on birth control and the possibility of how it may affect my body. My husband and I are considering natural cycle tracking.
Updates to come as we make our next step.
Thanks for reading!
