Prayer is powerful!
Our ability to communicate with God is pretty wonderful when you think about it. Just think about it, we get to talk wherever and whenever to God – the creator of it all. When I really think about it, I am amazed.
Sometimes, I think we can get lost in prayer. What do I mean by that?
Well, sometimes I think our devotion time, an opening or closing prayer in a group study, prayer before eating, or prayer over a person battling a sickness can sometimes become empty words. We pray, but there is no heart, power, or authority behind what we pray. This needs to change!
Matthew 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
God tells us that when we pray, we must believe that what we pray for will come to be. Our words are to be full of faith and confidence. Faith that it will come to be, and confidence that God hears us and will move.
James 4:6
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
The interesting thing about faith is that what we are believing for does not always seem like it may come to be. This is where doubt begins to sneak in. And sometimes we pray, with doubt behind every word we say. I understand the part of being realistic, but keep in mind, as you read the Bible, a lot of “unrealistic” miracles happened.
As we pray, doubt may come. Give those doubts to The Lord and ask Him to replace it with faith.
1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
This is not a I ask God for something and He just gives it to me because I have faith. Instead we have faith and pray for God’s will. And if what we pray is in alignment with that, it will come to be.
Once you start praying with an expectation, with belief in the words you speak I assure you, you will begin to see God move in ways like never before. You will see the power of prayer in effect.
Believe in what you pray for!
