Tips:
- Pick your day/days
Pick a good day for you and those you will invite to go shopping. Weekends are always a great time for this.
- Select/Invite your group
Have a good amount of people with good judgment. These should be people who know your personality and what you like/don’t like. The right people will make your experience even better.
- Come dressed up (recommend all white)
You’re shopping for your wedding dress – this is an exciting time! Come dress up for the occasion. A nice dress, your hair and makeup done right. As you look good, you’ll feel good and that will help make the day good.
- Have an idea but be open to other dresses
Take some time to look at dresses that you’re interested in. But don’t limit yourself, look at dresses that may not be exactly what you were looking for, but are still nice.
- Have budget, stick to it
The biggest expense for the bride is typically her wedding dress. These dresses can be very costly. Knowing what your budget is will help you narrow down your options and stay within budget.
- Snap pictures, record videos, and move in dress
Why do this? Well to remember your day, you’ll probably be looking at a lot of pictures and videos. It’s good to make sure that your dress looks good on camera. And if you’re like me, you wanna dance on your wedding day. So move around in that dress, and make sure it’s comfortable to your liking.
- Narrow to top 3
This will help you in your decision-making process to know which one is the one to wear.
- Try top 3 with accessories (veil, jewelry, etc.)
This will help to give you a full picture.
- Consider & be decisive
Take some time to listen to what your group has to say about the dresses you try on. Especially your top three. I recommend not knowing which one is their favorite so that way you only hear your voice when it comes time to make the decision. Trust me, when you find the dress, you will know it is the dress for you.
- Choose dress & Celebrate!
Simply said – choose your dress and celebrate
My Story
Our engagement was five months. To most, this is short. For us, it was just right!
Our wedding was already on a budget and so was my dress. I looked around online and on a whim went to a bridal store on my own. It started to hit me that wedding dresses can take a while to either be made or tailored in time.
With a shorter engagement timeline, I realized I was going to have to buy a dress close enough to my size and get it tailored in a shorter timespan than typical. So that weekend, I picked a day, a store, and a group of girls (who were my bridesmaids) to join me.
I went to Vow’d and had the best experience! They made me feel welcomed, heard, and cared for the whole time. Originally I came in with a different dress in mind. But what I picked was just right for me. They say when you know – you know! And that is how I felt in my dress.
